In December, 1915 during the midst of World War I, twenty-five visionary women met to organize what was to become Fairfield Garden Club. Their mission was to create an organization “for the pleasure and profit of amateur gardeners, where ideas could be exchanged and interest stimulated in the proper care of flowers and vegetable gardens”. By the end of the first year, the membership list had reached one hundred. In 1923, Fairfield Garden Club was voted into The Garden Club of America.

This year the Fairfield Garden Club celebrates its 100th Anniversary! Join them at their annual flower show which will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 10am-4pm at the Burr Homestead in Fairfield.

This year’s theme, “The Best of Times,” will be brought to life through more than 100 inspired interpretations of extraordinary imagination and creativity artfully presented by both adults and children. The show will  feature magnificent floral design, celebrate the tradition of horticulture, and showcase excellence in photography, history, and historical garden design.

The show is open to the public and free of charge. The full show schedule can be viewed on the Fairfield Garden Club website, www.fairfieldgardenclub.org
